In some ways, many pastors today are finally not hiding behind their pulpits when it comes to evil political matters. Sadly, a great number still have an internal commitment to “stay out of politics.” This is almost like ‘Team Satan’ figured out, “If we move the biblically clueless teachers into the pulpits, they will not speak or expose evil politics and gradually they will not expose other popular evils.”
Satan was right and when pastors, supposedly God called shepherds, stay out of exposing evil politics it honestly incites me into a subtle biblical rage. The idea that the Christian church, the true meaning of Ekklesia and politics do not mix was invented by Satan to keep God fearing people from running their own country. Satan sponsors silence because Jesus called His church an Ekklesia, which in Greek and Roman times was a public civic assembly where citizens gathered to discuss urgent matters, and exercise certain governmental authority. Prophetic pastors know Christ’s church must be involved outside the church to have an authoritative dimension in the public square of opinion.
People, who say they are Christian but have little or no biblical knowledge many times condemn their pastors, by telling them “You’re getting too political.” The truth is no; they are not! The church is called to put on “the whole armor of God,” as the Apostle Paul teaches, so we may stand against and withstand the forces of evil. The armor includes standing for righteousness, having faith over fear for the salvation of the lost, and standing against evil principalities, while using the sword of the spirit to speak the Word of God by opening our mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am Christ’s ambassador …that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (Ephesians 6:10-20).
No, church leaders today should not worry about getting too political they should be calling out for divine justice and support against the wicked (Psalm 94:16). Today’s evil forces in politics have moved into the realm of the church to destroy the theology and spiritual truths of Christ. Every Christian should know, all evil is sponsored by the spirit of the antichrist. When evil politicians and the political spiritual hosts of wickedness move past the core objectives of education, building roads, issuing drivers licenses and national defense and into the darkness of redefining God’s definition of marriage, erasing gender, while boosting infant murder and then claim these evils are reproductive rights, they moved their political agendas out and under the Lordship of Jesus Christ in America (Matthew 28:18).
I, as a minister of the word of God, if I were silent, I would be disobeying Jesus’s command. Jesus Christ called His followers to stand against evil, expose the works of darkness, defend the innocent, and speak the truth without fear. Christians cannot faithfully follow Christ while deliberately turning a blind eye to evil. Our allegiance is to Jesus Christ, and every earthly authority must ultimately answer to Him. Therefore, if I did not pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to help me verbally oppose the evils sponsored mostly by the Democrat Party, I would be dishonoring my Christ called appointment and would become a volitional apostate. The reason is obvious! Doers of the word of God, and this includes all true Disciples, are commanded to “contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints (Jude 3). The “Defense of the Gospel” is the act of upholding, explaining, and protecting the core tenets of the Christian faith as revealed in the Scriptures. This is rooted in the New Testament, where believers are to articulate the truth of the Gospel amidst opposition, false teachings, and cultural challenges. The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:11 commanded us to have no fellowship with evil but expose it. Therefore, as a minister of the one and only true God, I am going to apply the entire word of God to all evil political issues and expose the truth regarding their evil to not only Christians but to the entire world. This I will do unapologetically, because the power God has anointed me to speak Christ truth into the evil of this world, and evil politics is not exempt and neither are weak kneed pastors (Acts 1:8).
Therefore, I’m not going to stay silent about any evil. No, I cannot stand passively by while evil advances and watch the societal inheritance that God has given us destroy our children, their children, and the future of the American Christian church. I’m not going to do that! In fact, I know silence is how the church got to where we are right now. It is because of either the influence of biblically clueless people or fearful pastors without the faith of a mustard seed, decided “I’m not going to get political.” So instead, what I’m going to do is “be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like a man, be strong and let all that I do be done in sacrificial love” (1 Corinthians 16:13-14 paraphrased).
Charles Mackay wrote a poem “You Have No Enemies.” This is my Christian version of that poem.
You have no enemies, you say?
Alas! my friend in Christ, the boast is poor;
He whose cause is truth has exposed evil in the fray.
Of Duty to Christ, that the righteous endure,
Must have made foes! If you have none,
Small is the works that you have done.
You’ve ruined no evil through discipleship,
You’ve not exposed the darkness of lying lips,
You’ve never confronted wickedness with the light,
You’ve been a coward in the fight.
Readers may want to know: How do I reveal the evils of political agendas to our congregation? There are many ways, but first fortify yourself with the whole Armor of God, including reading verses 19 and 20: “…that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” Then remind yourself; you are putting on God’s Armor to “…be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:10-20)
Then, one of the best ways found to expose evil political agendas to the body of Christ is to read the scripture or scriptures that condemns the evil. Such as in Romans 1:18-32. Fully explain the meaning of these evils, and identify those today who are responsible for sponsoring this evil. This is not political speech, this is speaking the sword of the spirit, the word of God, into and exposing the immoral darkness of this world right outside the church in the market place of ideas. This is what all disciples of Christ have been called to do. If there are attendees who express dislike when the truth of God is spoken by Christ’s Disciples and exposes public evil, this is when you explain all Disciples are called by the One True God to be like Christ and “…bear witness to the truth so everyone who is of the truth hears Jesus the Christ’s voice” (John 18:37).
May God bless all leaders of the Christian faith that expose the evil that is taking place in our political system in America.
