The Power to Witness Without Regard to Worldly Consequences

Disciples of Christ have received the power of the Holy Spirit to testify by witnessing the truth of Christ to the ends of the earth [i] without fear. Scripture tells us we have received the power that God[ii] invested in us by opening our understanding[iii] to stand and testify for Christ. This is not our power to use personally. This power is from the most high to use during our mission to take the Gospel of Christ to the world.[iv] God did not give us a Spirit of fear.[v] Therefore, we can be courageous and testify without regard of the consequences because we have God’s shield and buckler[vi] of faith. We know through history standing for the truth of the Gospel can cause great sacrifices in order to further the world’s confidence in Jesus the Christ.

When we step up to the plate as Christ’s disciple, we therefore are promised to be led by the Spirit of God[vii] and protected by the whole armor of God,[viii] and know we are directed by the Spirit of Truth through our active participation. The key is His power enables us to commit to representing Christ in the market place of “and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.[ix] His promise is for the power of the Holy Spirit to be within us, to guide, comfort, and tell us what is to come,[x] while interceding for us[xi], as we invest our time, talents, deeds, and resources for the glory of God.  Then to those “…who overcome Christ will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”[xii]

The Holy Spirit enhances our spiritual gifts and empowers[xiii] us by uniting[xiv] with our spirit[xv] to enable us to be God’s power to spread His truth to the ends of the earth.

God has bestowed upon us a great honor and privilege to be on the frontlines in the fight against evil.[xvi] We can rely on the Power of God’s spoken word because it “…is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword”[xvii] and “…shall not return to God void.”[xviii] This is the full faith that once we speak His words of truth, the Holy Spirit takes and makes His words effective in “opening their eyes in order to turn them from the power of Satan to God.”[xix] All the while knowing, God’s Spirit does not impart fear or cowardice, but power in Godly action and then “we shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.” [xx]
