This story clearly outlines the darkness within the Socialist movement and this evil is dominant in today’s progressive movement in America. The Democrats, thankfully, have not yet gained the power of the Nazi party during WWII. They cannot yet kill us for being Christian. The Socialists in America today are limited to social and civil persecution, public harassment, and destroying careers for loudly speaking Christ’s truth against their lies, delusions, and tyranny.
Most Christians understand the progressive’s goal is total domination over America through social indoctrination, subterfuge of our bill rights, and making laws to force the creation of a totalitarian state. Therefore, to combat them we must unleash God’s unquenchable power against them before they obtain total power. God’s power is in the form of political prowess. This is a power the shepherds and the body of Christ need to overcome this progressive evil.
Political prowess is the courage and expertise needed to exert the power of God’s truth into the darkness of the public arena of ideas.
This is not a political position; this is forcing God’s position, His moral authority into the public darkness, as we are commanded to do in Acts 1:8 and Ephesians 5:11, etc. Therefore, to contend, expose, and stand against political evils, we must exert our spiritual superiority, our prowess into the political process. Why Christians you may ask? There is no other entity in the world that has been commissioned to use God’s power, the sword of the spirit, the spoken word of God. His power is held in the hands of the Body of Christ so they can kindheartedly expose those involved in public evils of the truth of Christ so the Spirit of God has an opportunity to bring them to the light of Christ. This can be accomplish today if Disciples of Christ will awaken the body and their Shepherds to God’s power of exposing the darkness in the public square of opinion.
Today this is not happening because either the church has taken upon themselves to escape from the reality of our commission, or they somehow rationalize the Holy Spirit does not work outside the Church. The result is Christians have hidden Christ’s truth from the political square for the past 60+ years. When God said, “…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will …forgive their sin and heal their land”[i] It is obvious our wicked ways today are silent inaction caused by accepting silence as a way of escaping from evil. We need to humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways or we will be destroyed by this evil.
When we stand, we will be hated but glorified! Paul asked if he was hated for telling the truth when he wrote, “have I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?”[ii] Then Jesus told us how to be blessed, “When they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven,”[iii] and Peter added, “If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part Christ is blasphemed, but on your part Christ is glorified.”[iv]
When we give our lives to Christ, we make a commitment to follow and honor Him, and to be as much like Jesus as humanly possible. Therefore, since Jesus “…was born, and came into the world, that He should bear witness to the truth,”[v] Christians who will not speak the truth are promise breakers. They are guilty of moral silent inaction, which is a form of cowardice. This is what caused the unprofitable servant to be “cast …into the outer darkness.”[vi]
Disciples expose the wickedness and darkness in humans by witnessing Christ’s truth “to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”[vii] Amen!
